Our father , Stevie Lew Meinhausen, was an entrepreneur. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona where he owned a very successful restaurant/coffee roasters called Coffee Etc.. It had six different locations and was open 24 hours, 7 days a week, back before Starbucks was on the scene. After a time he and our mom decided they didn’t want to die in the desert! We put roots down in Rockport where Steve built from nothing an rv park with a large rec room that he had a vision of eventually turning into an authentic small batch coffee roasting company and a Texas barbecue joint ( Stevie Lew's BBQ, our sister company), which he did in 2006. The antithesis of his restaurant in Tucson which had over 200 employees, Rockport Coffee and Stevie Lew’s were designed to be run with just our family. For the nearly 20 years we have been operating, Rockport Coffee and Stevie Lew’s have only been open a few days a week, maintaining minimal hours. Our Dad liked to tell us, "don’t live to work but work just enough so you can go and live". Stevie Lew loved many things about life, fishing, hunting, cooking, coffee, of course his family, but what he absolutely loved the most was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His entire life and business was founded on his beliefs in the Word of God. It was his passion and purpose in life to share the hope he had in Jesus with anyone that came through the doors of his restaurant that had a heart that was willing to listen. Since Steve’s passing in June of 2022, his wife and all four children have been working together to fill the shoes he left. With now my sister, the fouth generation Roast Master and my brother the Pit Master, all of us work daily to keep the vision for Rockport Coffee and Stevie Lew’s and it’s potential, alive and thriving.
